Job Title: Chief Accountant

Job Purpose:
The Chief Accountant will manage the company's accounting operations, including overseeing the preparation of financial reports, developing budgets, implementing internal controls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role involves leading a team of accountants and coordinating closely with other departments to optimize financial processes and strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data.
- Analyze financial information to recommend effective business solutions.
- Monitor and report on variances between actual and budgeted financial performance.
- General Ledger Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closings.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budget preparation process, working closely with department heads.
- Provide financial forecasts and projections to support strategic planning.
- Monitor cash flow and advise on liquidity and capital requirements.
- Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and tax requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors during audits and resolve audit issues.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance and support.
- Develop training programs and performance evaluations for accounting staff.
- Coordinate efforts to ensure the team meets reporting deadlines and quality standards.
- Tax and Regulatory Compliance:
- Prepare and submit VAT, income tax, and other tax returns.
- Ensure the company is in compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business.
- Cost Control and Efficiency:
- Analyze costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Develop and manage the company's accounting policies and procedures.
- Monitor and improve the efficiency of accounting systems and processes.
- Coordination with Other Departments:
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., procurement, HR, operations) to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making in various departments.
- Special Projects and Ad-hoc Analysis:
- Lead financial projects and initiatives as required.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reports to assist management with key decision-making.
Key Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree or professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA is preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS or GAAP).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
