Torbay Council continues to seek to create positive changes for local people, communities and business and our in-house legal service is expanding to support the varied work of this diverse Unitary Authority. This is an exciting time to join our busy but friendly department, as we continue to grow and develop our service. We are looking for conscientious candidates who are enthusiastic and motivated to work collaboratively in providing advice and support to our Council departments in delivering contract and commercial legal advice and outcomes.

Ideally, we welcome applications from Law Graduates, or Legal Executives but will consider candidates who have the right experience of advising/working in relation to commercial or contract law matters.

Skills
Essential:
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to give clear and accurate legal advice.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
As this post meets the requirements of the Immigration Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
Knowledge
Essential:
- A developing knowledge of this area of law.
- A good level of knowledge of the legal system.
- Basic understanding of local government law in relation to contract transactions.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Experience or working in a legal department.
- Experience of contract / commercial work.
