Primary objective:
This position is responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining a general ledger and preparing month-end closing procedures.
Provide expert analysis, advice and recommendations across a range of complex financial issues; develop and implement financial policies, procedures and systems to address organisation wide issues in order to meet the Department’s statutory.
Executing and controlling all general accounting transactions as assigned by the Director of Finance.
The focus of the position is to ensure the accurate recording of financial data, the organized filing of documentation, and timely completion of month end activities.
Areas of responsibility:
- Reviewing complex financial statements and making suggestions by reviewing the status of funds, properties etc.
- Training and mentoring junior accountants and review their journal entries for accuracy.
- Analysing and preparing variance and account reconciliations.
- Managing internal controls and handling audit and compliance projects.
- Ability to complete tasks with minimum or no supervision.
- Process all day-to-day accounting transactions in areas assigned by the Director of Finance, to ensure that document flow and transactions comply with Misk Schools’ specified financial and operational guidelines/policies.
- Monitor correct posting of data to accounts and verify transactions where discrepancies exist.
- Perform reconciliation of subsidiary and general ledgers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with reporting and procedural standards.
- Conduct regular internal audits of contracts, payments, vouchers and other transactions to ensure the existence of supporting documentation and validity.
- Undertake monthly review and reconciliation of all prepayments and accruals for capital and expense items and prepare general ledger entries to correctly reflect revenue and expenses for the period.
- Undertake month end closing activities according to the timelines specified by Departmental procedures to assist in accurate and timely preparation of the trial balance.
- Assist in preparation of monthly reporting packages and supporting schedules.
- Submit monthly reports to the Director of Finance by agreed deadlines.
- Prepare and provide assistance with other ad-hoc reports as and when required by management.
- Contribute to the achievement of Departmental objectives by processing financial transactions in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assist the Director of Finance with preparations for internal and external audits.
- Ensure accounting procedures comply with International Accounting Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Maintain effective and secure filing systems as per internal controls.
- Conduct all activities within the service standards established by The Director of Finance.
- Conduct the daily activity of the Department with reference to Misk Schools policy.
- Embed Misk Schools culture and ethics in all the activities of the Department.

Safeguarding:
- The post holder will be required to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and follow the school’s safeguarding policies and the staff code of conduct. They will directly support the designated safeguarding lead as a priority to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students at the school.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or any related field (essential).
Experience:
- +5 years relevant experience.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
- Experience and Knowledge of accountancy standards, ZAKAT and taxes.
- Ability to Analyze Data.
