The role of the Innovation Coach is to foster a culture of innovation and innovative teaching
practices while providing expertise, support, and guidance to educators in the area of applied
sciences instruction within GEMS DAA Elementary. This position requires a deep understanding
of technology integration, instructional strategies, and innovative teaching practices.

● Head of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation
Responsibilities:
1. Promote Culture of Innovation:
● Promote a culture of innovation and inquiry-based learning within the elementary
school.
● Identify and share innovative teaching practices and instructional technologies.
● Liaise with the Elementary Leadership Team to design and deliver professional
development workshops, seminars, and training sessions for teachers.
2. Labs Usage:
● Support teachers in delivering hands-on, project-based learning experiences in
Labs that align with curriculum objectives.
● Assist in the selection, setup, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and
materials for the labs.
● Provide guidance and training to teachers and students on the safe and effective
use of the lab tools and equipment.
● Foster a culture of creativity, problem-solving, and innovation within the labs
environment.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
● Act as a resource person for design and tech-related queries, providing support
and guidance to staff members as needed.
4. Student Engagement and Support:
● Engage and inspire students by facilitating meaningful learning experiences that
connect science, design and engineering concepts to real-world learning.
● Provide guidance and support to students as they design, create, and iterate on
projects that involve innovative thinking and problem-solving.
● Encourage student collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
5. Coaching
● Coach students and teachers through brainstorming, designing, prototyping, and
presenting projects, providing guidance on project management, teamwork, and
effective communication.
● Liaise with K-12 coaches to develop student coaching programs and leadership
opportunities.
AY 2024/25
Qualifications:
● A master’s degree in instructional design and/or curriculum and instruction and/or
educational leadership qualifications
● Teaching experience in technology at the elementary school level.
● Strong knowledge of technology content, Common Core/NGSS/ISTE/CSTA standards,
and instructional strategies.
● Familiarity with innovative teaching practices and emerging trends in education.
● Analytical thinking and ability to use data to inform instructional decision-making.
● Proficiency in Apple and Google technologies
● Ability to work collaboratively and establish positive relationships with teachers and
administrators.
