Join the Redevelopment team as Assistant Project Director for St Mary's Hospital , a pivotal role in transforming the Trust’s clinical plans and long-term objectives into actionable project plans. This role involves managing the entire project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with national priorities like the New Hospitals Programme, net zero carbon commitments, and Hospital 2.0 guidelines. You will lead on town planning, technical assurance, and business case preparation while fostering collaboration with clinical, estates, and infection prevention teams. A strong focus on building relationships and managing interdependencies will ensure the seamless delivery of Redevelopment goals.

As Assistant Project Director, you will oversee the [SMH] redevelopment project, ensuring high-quality design and delivery within agreed budgets and timelines. You will lead the internal/external project team, ensuring accurate and transparent reporting for effective oversight of all project aspects. Key responsibilities include managing decant projects, site logistics, and delivering projects that meet patient safety, engineering, and sustainability standards, including net zero carbon aspirations.
You will ensure statutory compliance, support high-quality business case production with detailed cost and design information, and engage contractors under appropriate contracts to monitor and correct performance. Collaborating with Digital, Sustainability, Infection Control, and Engineering teams, you will drive quality outcomes, minimize operational disruption, and deliver projects within the £1.2bn budget.
In this role, you’ll provide leadership, distill complex ideas into clear, actionable language, and build relationships with stakeholders, including Boards, clinicians, staff, and the public. You will ensure project communications align with key milestones and oversee design processes to meet technical standards. Your responsibilities extend to financial management, ensuring value for money and compliance with Trust financial guidelines.
