The Structural QC Inspector will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of prefabricated structural components during their delivery, handling, and erection on the Oil & Gas plant construction site.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct receiving inspection of prefabricated structural components (e.g., steel frames, modules, beams, columns, etc.) upon delivery to the site.
- Inspect the erection process of prefabricated components, ensuring proper handling, alignment, and installation according to approved drawings and specifications.
- Verify that bolted and welded connections meet the required standards, ensuring that all joints are correctly assembled and structurally sound.
- Monitor the structural stability of temporary supports and ensure that lifting and rigging operations are conducted safely.
- Maintain thorough records of inspections, material certifications, welding and assembly reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
- Generate and submit detailed daily reports of inspection activities, documenting any discrepancies and corrective actions.
- Ensure proper documentation is in place for material traceability, including vendor certificates, welding reports, and quality checks from fabrication facilities.
- Coordinate and supervise necessary non-destructive testing (NDT) for prefabricated structures, including weld inspections and coating checks.
- Liaise with the client’s quality control team for any inspections and approvals required for prefabricated materials and structure assemblies.
- Review and assist in the implementation of quality control procedures for the handling, storage, and installation of prefabricated structures.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical / Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- 10 years of experience in relevant field with a minimum of 6 years in quality control inspection, specifically related to the erection of prefabricated structures, in the Oil & Gas, industrial, or construction sectors.
Certifications & Skills:
- Certification in welding inspection (e.g., CSWIP, AWS CWI) and/or NDT certification (e.g., Level I or II in NDT techniques).
- Familiarity with international standards and codes such as ASME, AWS, ASTM, and ISO.
