Job Description: Warehouse Manager (Pharma Background)
Position Summary:
The Warehouse Manager will lead the development and implementation of best practices in warehouse strategy, policies, and processes to enhance operational performance. The role demands an expert in managing the storage, receipt, and dispatch of raw materials and finished goods in compliance with pharmaceutical industry standards and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement warehouse strategies, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency and operational performance.
- Continuously identify areas for improvement to optimize costs, enhance value, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Inventory Management:
- Store and manage appropriate levels of raw materials, goods, and products in the right locations to meet business and production demands.
- Ensure inventory accuracy through periodic physical counts and reconciliation with automated systems.
- Apply FEFO (First Expiry First Out) and/or FIFO (First In First Out) principles as applicable.
Operational Excellence:
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor the receipt, storage, and dispatch of raw materials to production and finished goods to distribution teams.
- Organize safe and efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch operations to meet customer demands.
- Ensure compliance with quality processes and adherence to industry guidelines for raw materials and finished goods storage.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
- Provide a safe working environment by adhering to and enforcing Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures.
- Conduct regular safety training and ensure team members understand and practice safety protocols.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and relevant documentation for all warehouse activities, including labeling and stock records.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs), reports, process documentation, and safety records.
- Share periodic warehouse scorecards to track performance against targets.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Coach, manage, and develop warehouse staff and team leaders to ensure optimal performance.
- Communicate priorities, targets, and operational requirements to the team effectively.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence within the warehouse team.
Process Improvement:
- Continuously review and refine processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Implement new design layouts and ensure the maintenance of physical warehouse conditions.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards for quality systems.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to meet department strategies and business objectives.
- Negotiate and engage with suppliers, customers, and internal teams for seamless operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in warehouse management within a pharmaceutical or healthcare industry setting.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management principles, including FEFO and FIFO.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory guidelines relevant to the pharma industry.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Proficiency in warehouse management software and automated inventory systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and track KPIs.
