As the Assistant Financial Accountant, you will support the finance department in managing, processing, and troubleshooting various accounting transactions.
This role will assist in preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and ensuring that financial records are accurate and compliant with company policies and regulations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organised, and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances.
- Assist in managing outstanding payments and follow up on overdue invoices.
General Ledger
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting daily transactions and reconciling discrepancies.
- Prepare and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately.
Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Support the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements.
- Help with variance analysis and reporting on financial performance.
Bank Reconciliation
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and internal records.
Tax & Compliance
- Support in the preparation of VAT, GST, and other tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
- Assist with audits by providing relevant financial data and documentation.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor expenditures and variances against budgeted figures.
Other Duties
- Assist with payroll processing and related documentation.
- Provide administrative support to the finance team as required.
- Participate in financial projects and ad-hoc tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, or other recognized accounting qualifications (preferred).
Experience
- 1-2 years of experience in an accounting or finance-related role.
- Familiarity with accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP) is an advantage.
