Job Accountabilities
- Participate in development of overall annual plan and budget for the QA/QC laboratory in line with the business requirements.
- Ensure compliance of Lab Quality Systems to ISO/IEC 17025 standard as per NABL requirements and guide subordinates.
- Prepare and maintain the documents as per the requirements of the accreditation bodies.
- Represent laboratory discipline in the site meetings to review the performance and discuss relevant matters for plant process improvements.
- Ensure reliability and operational excellence with timely support to plants and other departments in both routine and emergency situations.
- Plan and conduct internal quality audits to improve Lab systems and take timely corrective/preventive actions.
- Collaborate with site Head of QA/QC, other site labs and COE for technical issues and participate inter lab proficiency testing programs.
- Participate in inter-site benchmarking and ensure best practices and corrective actions for improvements in coordination with Site Head QA-QC.
- Develop action plan for replacement of obsolete instrument and/or update technology in the assigned discipline in consultation with Site Head QA/QC.
- Adopt and set up updated standard analytical methods / techniques as per customers specification requirements for products certification as required by QMS.
- Responsible to develop, modify & validation of new test method introduced.
- Provide the opinion and interpretation of the test results reported
- Interface with cross functional teams for framing up sample schedules / sampling methods and test frequencies
- Provide support to new projects by developing laboratory facilities / analytical instrumentation at site in coordination with Site Head QA-QC
- Provide support in resolving testing issues/additional analytical support during start up, trouble shooting, test runs.
- Ensure optimal resource allocation to enable highest level of technical delivery and utilization of lab assets
- Develop and monitor instrument calibration and reagent standardization schedules / quality checks with CRM
- Optimize and modify sample schedules to meet special requirements.
- Manage evaluation of process chemicals and additives and provide recommendations in vendor selection process with technical reports and data
- Plan and monitor vender services for process/additive chemicals.
- Data Management
- Analysis / Recommendation reports based on analytical data for the assigned discipline.
- Contribute to the plan and budget for the QA/QC group
- Use appropriate techniques (for e.g. SQC) for lab analytical data analysis
- Additive / chemicals performance evaluation

- HSE & other regulatory compliance
- Ensure that HSEF is an integral part of routine work conducted by the Lab staff.
- Monitor and audit compliance with applicable HSEF procedures/ practices.
- Learning & mentoring
- Ensure capability development of the lab staff.
- Provide coaching to lab staff for improving efficiency and effectiveness and technical skills.
- Implement rotational assignments and develop staff to undertake multiple analytical tasks to develop flexible work force.
- Identify training need of lab team and ensure technical competency building in coordination with Site Head QA/QC.
- Contribute as faculty member for learning lab staff for Technical and HSE area. Lead / Guide for work safety improvements initiatives.
- Extra Activities
- Participate in National/international Proficiency testing programs to demonstrate lab technical competencies
- Contribute for document preparation for Participating in national / international technical committees for laboratories( e.g. BIS, ASTM, IP etc.) for developments of new laboratory standards / methods/ product specifications
- Attend external trainings in coordination with Site Head QA/QC
