Position: Construction Manager

Key Accountability:
- Supervises the activities of assigned personnel within the Project Construction Organization.
- Directs and establishes the construction philosophy for Company systems, standards, procedures, methodology and the necessary protocols to carry out the variety of construction support services, to a high standard of performance.
- Responsible to interact with all the project stakeholders throughout the design phase and present periodic updates on design features to ensure smooth completions. Schedules all Constructability Studies, Safety Reviews and ensures responsible participants contribute during meetings and disposition action from meetings in a timely manner.
- Responsible for overall facility, including all mechanical, electrical, instruments, process, systems, structural and civil works. Monitors all the project construction phases till mechanical completion including commissioning dossier reviews, preparation of bid packages.
- •Participate in contract negotiations as required and recommends contract awards. Oversees project construction or installation work by contractors and approves progress for final payments as per value of work done (VOWD).
- Independently reviews Inspection programs, Inspections, Non-Destructive Tests (NDT) and general surveys on systems such as pressurized vessels, piping, above and underground pipelines or structures, cathodic protection systems, to ensure AFC package and code compliance.
- Manages the establishment and maintenance of a Technical Documentation and Standards. Includes ensuring the correct revision of project procedures, codes and standards are utilized (including records and publications) and making these available to the construction team/supervisors.
- Participates in project budget development to ensure GATE review process is adequately described to ensure reasonable funding is available in order to successfully carry out the various Construction tasks.
- Exercises strict control over costs of construction particularly the use of labour, materials and equipment. This includes reviewing variances from budgeted expenditure and recommends/initiates action to bring them under control.
- Participates in/or chairs a variety of meetings to discuss various plans, environmental and safety issues or outside meetings with contractors and provides technical explanations and recommendations as appropriate.
- Monitors construction progress on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and provides input to the regular reports to the Project Manager.
- Responsible for document approvals through-out all phases of the project, including timely review, commenting, and approvals. Monitors correspondence, letters, RFI, deviations and transmittals by actions required by dates and provides timely direction and/or decisions.
- Maintains Project’s Key Issues list and ensure timely reporting and disposition of actions.
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in qualified Engineering or equivalent
Years of experience:
15 years of experience in major oil/gas projects.
