This role requires strong partnership working at all levels within the organisation, to engage with staff groups across the organisation to test/determine the culture of organisation, identifying sub-cultures (positive and negative) with a view to encouraging and supporting cultural change in line with our Trust values.
Acting as an impartial and independent expert and professional resource for Trust colleagues on all aspects of practice relating to Freedom to Speak up. Identifying appropriate contacts and escalation routes as sources of support for anything that might be spoken up about.
Importantly to encourage the embedding of best practice in enabling and supporting Trust staff to raise concerns where they see evidence of risk, ongoing and unsafe practice.

As Freedom to Speak Up Guardian, the post holder with a focus on patient safety will engage with staff groups across the organisation using tools such as national/local surveys to test/determine culture of organisation, identifying sub-cultures (positive and negative). Raising awareness of cultural issues to support change.
Actively engage in supporting all cultural initiatives with research and education to enhance the Trust’s capabilities in evaluating and improving culture ensuring patient safety is at the forefront.
The post holder will provide a focus on ensuring that colleagues feel able to speak up without fear of detriment to protect patient safety, identify and develop ways to improve barriers to speaking up, improve experience and promote learning and improvement.
This role will operate independently, impartially, and objectively, whilst working in partnership with individuals and groups throughout the organisation. The post holder will seek guidance and support from and, where appropriate and escalate matters as required including to bodies outside the organisation.
Working with key stakeholders and the executive team autonomously on the development and delivery of the Freedom to Speak Up Strategy and actively engage to ensure alignment with the Trust People and Culture Plan.
The post holder will, adhere with directives from the National Guardian Office, regularly support and contribute to the national and regional networks.
We support the frontline of cancer care and working in this team will directly impact on those who deliver it and the effectiveness of our organisation, bringing our Trust values and behaviours to life.
There is an expectation that the role-holder will work from home and spend time on the Withington site to engage with stakeholders, deliver interventions, and attend meetings. Travel to our satellite sites may be required on a minimal basis (Oldham, Salford, Macclesfield).
