An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team in Ward 18, a 26-bedded general medical escalation ward.
The ward provides care for patients with various general medical conditions hence a good opportunity for you to be involved with patients from the various specialities.
Main duties of the job
As Staff Nurse, you will be working closely with the Junior sister, Senior Sister and Matron, playing an integral role in driving changes with a range of comprehensive orientation and support.

Essential skills key to this role are implementing and maintaining high clinical standards whilst caring for patients, enhancing staff personal development, providing guidance, support and expertise to clinical staff.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- The post holder will have managerial responsibility for ward 18 in the absence of the Senior/junior Charge Nurse. He/she will provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership to the staff on the Unit with emphasis on nurse-led discharges.
- The post holder will have ongoing responsibility for the quality of care, cleanliness, environment and infection, prevention & control within the clinical area and will provide professional advice and support at both ward and Directorate level.
- To implement the Trusts’ Core Values, strategies and Philosophy of nursing, ensuring they are embedded into everyday practice and evaluate their impact on the customer experience.
- To provide individualised patient care and develop/maintain standards of evidence-based care in nursing practice and policies within the Unit, monitoring progress through spot checks and audits.
- To manage the work within the clinical area effectively and make the best use of resources; encouraging and leading service development accordingly. To ensure a balanced budget at the end of the financial year.
- To ensure that professional accountability is maintained in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct (2002).
