Job Purpose:
Lead and oversee the execution, construction, and successful commissioning of large-scale solar power projects. Responsible for effective management of site activities, ensuring on-time project delivery, quality control, adherence to safety standards, and managing the end-to-end construction process, including contractor coordination, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Management & Execution
- Develop and implement the project management plan, scheduling project milestones, resources, and activities.
- Review project scope, contract documents, and project execution strategy to ensure alignment with company standards and objectives.
- Oversee resource planning and allocation, risk assessment, and budget management to meet project timelines and financial targets.
- Facilitate kick-off meetings, weekly reviews, and progress tracking; conduct planned vs. actual analysis to ensure timelines and objectives are met.
2. Construction Management
- Supervise site operations, including installation, testing, and commissioning of solar power plant equipment (PV modules, inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA systems).
- Ensure adherence to technical norms and quality standards for on-site work and manage documentation such as GRNs, GFC drawings, and measurement sheets.
- Conduct regular site inspections to maintain standards in safety, quality, and compliance; address any deviations from the project plan.
- Coordinate with engineering and liaison teams to secure necessary permits, clearances, and coordinate with government bodies (CEA, SECI) for project approvals.
3. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve site issues and enhance project coordination.
- Ensure smooth and efficient vendor management, handling contract negotiations, vendor performance tracking, and contractor support.
- Conduct vendor meetings, negotiate contracts, and ensure delivery timelines are met by coordinating with procurement and logistics teams for on-time supply of materials.
4. Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
- Oversee the daily and monthly generation reports, track preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and ensure smooth operations post-commissioning.
- Manage key performance metrics such as PR, PLF, CUF, and optimize maintenance schedules to prevent equipment downtime.
- Coordinate with the O&M team to ensure timely module cleaning, transmission line supervision, and monthly JMR/MRI activities with DISCOM for accurate invoicing.
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Generate detailed progress reports, cash flow plans, and project health updates for management and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records for all site activities, including project hindrance registers, vendor invoices, safety compliance logs, and project completion documentation.
- Compile lessons learned and closeout documents upon project completion to support continuous improvement in future projects.
Key Competencies:
- Project Planning and Management: Strong proficiency in MS Project and SAP HANA for scheduling, budgeting, and risk mitigation.
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with solar project components, including PV modules, SCBs, inverters, transformers, and switchyard equipment up to 66 KV.
- Quality & Safety Standards: In-depth understanding of quality control processes, safety regulations, and compliance standards for large-scale solar installations.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong communication skills for cross-functional coordination, vendor management, and client interfacing.
- Problem Solving: Ability to analyze and resolve on-site challenges, ensure prompt issue resolution, and maintain project momentum.
Qualifications:
- Education: B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical
- Experience: 14+ years in solar project execution, construction management, and O&M activities in large-scale ground-mounted solar projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Project, SAP HANA, PV-Syst, and Meteonorm; strong understanding of EPC project lifecycle in the renewable sector.
- Preferred Knowledge: Theory of Constraints (TOC) and Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) for process and resource optimization.
