This role with sit within Race Promotion, which is a key pillar of Formula 1’s business. This role will be part of the legal team that supports the commercial team to contract, manage and deliver the venue where fans experience the thrill and entertainment of the sport.
This is an established role with the opportunity for growth. You will be part of a team of four lawyers, overseen by a Chief Counsel and your role will involve supporting the work of the team’s lawyers and, with appropriate training and supervision, managing your own workstreams. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with drafting of documentation on race promotion-related matters across the Formula 1 race calendar
- Assisting with drafting of license agreements for use of Formula 1 IP by race promoters
- Drafting ancillary contracts such as non-disclosure agreements and memorandums of understanding regarding initial new race territory discussions
- Managing regular promoter communications (relating to local laws, promoter contact details, use of event CCTV, official supplier letters etc.)
- Managing communications with promoters and Formula 1’s insurance advisors relating to event insurance
- Reviewing and amending promoter ticket and pass terms and conditions
- Responding to day-to-day enquiries from internal clients and external counterparties on promoter-related matters
- Preparing and maintaining contract summaries
- Undertaking ad-hoc research tasks
- Working with Compliance department on requisite DD for commercial partners and suppliers
- Assisting with other related commercial matters including providing practical advice to a variety of Formula 1’s business teams (such as sponsorship, licensing, hospitality and motorsport)
Candidate Profile
- You will have an impressive academic background and 1+ years’ experience working within a leading City or national law firm or relevant in-house legal team
- You have some experience of working with commercial contracts and ideally some experience in legal drafting
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
- You are agile and can multi-task and deliver results under pressure to a deadline
- You are organised and pride yourself on your high degree of attention to detail
- You are a team player and understand the importance of building relationships with your clients, peers and race promoters
- You are enthusiastic, have a strong “can-do” attitude and a willingness to expand your skillset
- With appropriate training and supervision, you enjoy taking responsibility for your own workstreams and are a solution-orientated problem solver
- You are proficient in using Microsoft Word and Excel
