Our Client operates in the Blockchain and cryptocurrency space and they are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Accountant/CFO to lead the financial operations of our company. This dual-role position requires an expert in accounting principles, financial management, and strategic planning to oversee all financial aspects, from routine accounting tasks to high-level financial strategy. The ideal candidate is someone who combines technical proficiency in accounting with the vision and leadership required for long-term financial growth and stability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting and Reporting
- Oversee and manage the company’s daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP or IFRS standards.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and monthly/quarterly/yearly reports.
- Maintain and enforce a robust internal control environment to safeguard company assets.
- Manage the general ledger, including month-end and year-end closing processes, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
Financial Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company's goals, supporting growth, profitability, and long-term success.
- Prepare comprehensive budgets and financial forecasts, analyzing variances and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
- Advise the CEO and Board on strategic financial decisions, investments, and risk management.
- Conduct financial analysis, scenario planning, and ROI assessments to guide decision-making on projects, investments, and expansion initiatives.
Treasury and Cash Flow Management
- Manage cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for ongoing operations, and provide recommendations for optimizing cash reserves.
- Oversee treasury functions, including investments, financing activities, and managing relationships with financial institutions.
- Negotiate lines of credit or other financial arrangements as required to meet operational and capital expenditure needs.
Financial Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and statutory requirements.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of external audits and tax filings, working closely with auditors and tax advisors.
- Develop and maintain a risk management framework, implementing strategies to minimize financial and operational risks.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards, ensuring the company remains compliant.
Leadership and Team Management
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, supporting professional growth and enhancing the team’s skill sets.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
- Drive the development of financial policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance financial processes and team productivity.
Financial Systems and Process Improvement
- Optimize financial processes, implementing systems and automation where possible to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Identify and implement accounting software or ERP systems that support financial reporting, forecasting, and data management.
- Lead initiatives to streamline accounting and finance functions, reducing inefficiencies and improving accuracy.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), or Accounting is preferred.
- Certifications: CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a senior or managerial role. Experience as a CFO or in a similar high-level finance role is highly preferred.
