The Independent Accountant for the PMV / Asphalt Division will oversee and manage financial activities related to BCG construction projects. This role focuses on ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic insights to enhance cost efficiency and project profitability. The candidate will work independently or in collaboration with the finance and operations teams to ensure robust financial controls, transparent reporting, and effective resource utilization within the PMV / Asphalt division.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reports specific to the PMV / Asphalt Independent divisions.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry-specific financial requirements.
- Proven track record of honesty and integrity in handling cash transactions, managing funds, and overseeing scrap sales, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies.
- Oversee accounting and ensure proper allocation of costs.
- Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to maintain financial integrity.
- Analyze project costs to identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Implement effective cost control measures to minimize expenses and improve profitability.
- Monitor and account for internal and external revenues, timely billings, warranties, security deposits etc.
- Ensure proper tracking of change orders, claims, and respective project billings.
- Verify the external and internal hire rates, monitor periodically.
- Oversee the accounting for fixed assets and ensure timely capitalization and depreciation.
- Monitor inventory levels, ensuring proper valuation and management of construction assets, vehicles and materials [IFRS]
- Develop and enforce internal controls to safeguard financial resources.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with division/ assets
- Ensure that accounting practices align with company policies and procedures.
- Liaise with project managers, procurement teams, and other departments to ensure seamless financial coordination.
- Provide financial insights and reports to senior management to aid decision-making.
- Support external auditors during annual audits and other financial reviews.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (Buildsmart or similar).
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and VAT regulations.

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or Higher and/ or equivalent certification preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or production companies and/or divisional accounting experience.
- Proven knowledge of project accounting, cost analysis, and preparation of FS, liaising with external auditors, inventory management etc.
