This Morning, now in its 37th year, is one of the UK’s longest running programmes. Over the last decade, This Morning has been awarded a BAFTA and won seven National Television Awards, seven TV Choice Awards and seven Cannes Lions, including two golds.
The format has cemented itself as a modern staple of British culture; reaching 20 million viewers over the last year. It has been one of the most watched shows on ITVX in 2024 and has recently celebrated the milestone of over one billion views across its social platforms.
This Morning is now searching for its next Editor to lead the on / off screen team (100+ people) and provide the day-to-day and long term Editorial vision for the Programme.
The successful candidate must have extensive experience of successfully leading, developing and supporting a large team within a live topical programme. You will have excellent editorial flair and judgement, be commercially focused and have the ambition to drive innovation across the show. You will also have an expert understanding of how to maximise engagement with the programme’s on screen and digital audience and foster ongoing positive relationships with on-screen faces and their representatives.
Minimum Criteria
- A significant track record of successfully outputting a live, topical programme as an Editor, Series Producer or Deputy Editor
- A proven journalistic background working at a national level
- Substantial experience of effectively leading a large team on and off screen and creating an inclusive, collaborative and innovative culture
- Strong editorial and journalist judgement and a demonstrable creative approach to storytelling, treatments and production
- Considerable experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with on screen faces and their representatives
- Demonstrable experience and resilience to expertly deliver under pressure and manage press interest and scrutiny
- Extensive knowledge of broadcast standards, compliance and OFCOM Guidelines.
