Requirements & Responsibilities:
• To manage all electrical and mechanical technical aspect and associated products in line with spec. and customer configuration
• Meet switchgear KPI as set out by Factory manager
• To have knowledge of IEC-61439 & IEC-60529 standards related to switchgear.
• Lead a team of Design Engineers in order to execute each assigned Project 100% in accordance with Tender, Project Margin, Specification & Drawing submission dates.
• Communicate effectively with the Project Team & management to achieve target date with zero design error.
• Provide design/drafting time estimation for each job to the Project Team.
• Schedule drawing completion based on priorities given by Project Engineer.
• Ensure minimum comments from client/consultant regarding drawings.
• To improve on Bill of Materials (BOM) for each project against what has been quoted to clients.
• Review and analyse each project design that is passed from Design Team, technically evaluate it based on the specification, compliance statement, tender and purchase order. Once reviewed hand it over to Project Engineer for submission.
• Advice if any discrepancy between quoted BOM and actual designed BOM to Project Engineer.
• Ensure the BOM handed over to project engineer for ordering.
• To estimate design plan based on daily, weekly and monthly and share to concerned Project Team.
• Factory Manager will be fully in the loop in the design of every project.
• Review designs completed by Design Engineer that have special consideration and ensure that they are both workable on site and have ability to manufacture in the plant. Get involved in special components manufacture from a design perspective.
• Ensure the track record of revision supported with transmittal for each drawing.
• Ensure release of drawing for production in a timely manner such that Project engineers get their required material uploaded on the system to release for production is required to start.
• Control the usage of paper and promote the usage of used one side paper for printing in your department.
• Ensure H&S of Engineers at site and in factory by instructing them to wear proper PPE.
• Ensure all the drawings are completed within the estimated time schedule.
• Maintain record for drawings.
• Teach every Design Engineer some techniques on how to improve their skills to improve their timeframe in each drawing assigned.
• Maintain latest drawing standards/best practices and provide necessary training for Design Team
• Provide or schedule training in all Design Engineers to achieve flexibility that each Design Engineer can do all types of drawings.
• Standardizing the daily activities and ensuring the implementation of Quality Procedures in the Design section.
