We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Drilling Engineers with Deepwater Experience to join our Well Construction Team. This role is pivotal in driving our drilling activities including engineering, tendering, operations and closeout. The incumbent will be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team comprising Drilling Engineers, Petroleum Engineers, Production Engineers, Geologists, Geophysicists, Petrophysicists, and Reservoir Engineers.
Roles and Responsibilities for Offshore (Deepwater) wells drilling:
- Overseeing, reviewing and approving the well design process for deepwater wells in collaboration with the subsurface, completion and production groups.
- Analyzing legacy / foreseeable drilling problems. Taking lead in the deployment of improved operational practices as well as new technologies.
- Coordinating with rig contractors’ and service providers’ leadership teams to ensure pre-spud readiness and post-spud operational continuity.
- Reviewing and approving the preparedness for the Kick-Off, Drilling Well On Paper (DWOP) and pre-spud meetings.
- Reviewing critical and major observations made in third-party inspections for drilling rigs, service company equipment and company-owned inventory.
- Coordinating with drillship / semi-submersible, sea logistics, air logistics and shorebase management service providers to ensure equipment and manpower availability at the rig prior to planned drilling operations.
- Monitoring drilling operations and reviewing preparedness of integrated / bundled / discrete services for upcoming activities (shorebase, air logistics, sea logistics, bits, directional, drilling fluids, CTRS, cementing, DFTS and other auxiliary services).
- Ensuring the adherence of drilling activities to well engineering policies, company policies, HSE guidelines and industry standards (both local & international).
- Reviewing MOCs and dispensations before seeking management approval.
- Supervising engineers within the drilling team and regularly assessing their competencies.
- Overseeing and reviewing tendering activities for upcoming projects (pre-qualification, SOW preparation, technical evaluation, E&D closure, etc.).
- Monitoring procurement activities and ensuring usage of available inventory prior to placement of callouts of tangibles.
- Representing the company in high-level internal as well as external engagements including JV and DGH, if applicable.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Drilling or Petroleum Engineering.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 - 17 years of relevant experience with at least 10 years in offshore (deepwater) drilling projects.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Landmark Suite of software is essential (minimum requirement - Wellcat, Wellplan and Compass).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to interpret rig site data and make informed operational decisions as well as assess new drilling technologies prior to deployment.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
