Position Overview
The BIM (Building Information Modeling) Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of BIM processes and technologies throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. The role involves leading a team of BIM professionals, coordinating BIM models, and ensuring that all stakeholders are utilizing BIM efficiently to improve project outcomes, reduce costs, and streamline workflows.
Key Responsibilities
1. BIM Implementation and Strategy
Develop and implement the BIM strategy and protocols for the organization, ensuring alignment with
project goals and industry standards.
Define and manage BIM execution plans, ensuring all project teams understand and follow BIM
processes and guidelines.
Ensure effective implementation of BIM tools and technologies across the organization.
2. Project Coordination and Collaboration
Lead and coordinate the creation of BIM models, ensuring collaboration across architecture,
engineering, and construction disciplines.
Act as a liaison between clients, project teams, and contractors to ensure that BIM models and processes
are being adhered to.
Ensure that all BIM data is integrated into the project’s workflow to facilitate better decision-making.
3. BIM Model Management and Quality Control
Oversee the development and maintenance of accurate and up-to-date BIM models throughout the project lifecycle.
Perform quality control of BIM models, ensuring they meet internal standards, client requirements, and
project specifications.
Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to BIM models and workflows.
4. Team Leadership and Development
Manage a team of BIM professionals, providing leadership, guidance, and support in their work.
Identify training needs within the team and provide or organize continuous professional development
opportunities to ensure staff stay updated on BIM trends and tools.
Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages the exchange of knowledge and best practices.
5. Technology Integration and Innovation
Stay updated on the latest trends and innovations in BIM software, technology, and industry practices.
Evaluate and recommend new BIM tools and technologies to improve project workflows and team productivity.
Oversee the integration of BIM with other project management tools and platforms, such as scheduling, cost estimating, and asset management systems.
6. Reporting and Documentation
Prepare and present reports related to BIM progress, issues, and solutions to senior management and stakeholders.
Document and maintain records of all BIM processes, standards, and protocols for future reference.
Assist in creating project-specific reports and documentation, ensuring the model is aligned with project goals and requirements.
7. Client and Stakeholder Engagement
Provide BIM-related consulting and support to clients and stakeholders, ensuring they understand the benefits and capabilities of BIM.
Communicate BIM model updates and relevant information to clients and stakeholders in a clear and accessible manner.
Ensure that the client’s requirements are met through proper integration of BIM processes into the project workflow.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
5+ years of experience working with BIM, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
In-depth experience in using BIM software tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD).
Experience with BIM implementation across multiple projects, including large-scale, complex projects.
Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in BIM software and tools, with experience in both design and construction phases.
Knowledge of BIM standards, protocols, and methodologies.
Experience with 3D modelling, visualization, and clash detection.
Familiarity with interoperability issues between different BIM software platforms.
Understanding of construction workflows and how BIM can be used to improve processes.
