Position Overview
A Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that machinery, equipment, and systems within a facility or industrial plant are maintained and functioning efficiently. The role involves planning and overseeing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preventive and Corrective Maintenance
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for machinery, equipment, and systems.
Perform regular inspections and routine maintenance tasks to prevent unexpected failures.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to restore equipment functionality.
Coordinate with other departments to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
2. Repairs and Equipment Overhaul
Identify and repair malfunctions or breakdowns in equipment and systems.
Oversee major repairs, refurbishments, and upgrades to machinery and systems.
Ensure the proper functioning of equipment post-repair and monitor the long-term reliability of systems.
3. Technical Support and Troubleshooting
Provide technical support for issues related to machinery, electrical systems, and industrial equipment.
Analyze failure reports and make recommendations for improvements.
Use diagnostic tools and techniques to pinpoint and resolve issues effectively.
4. Safety and Compliance
Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards.
Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to avoid accidents.
Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities for regulatory compliance.
5. Spare Parts and Inventory Management
Monitor and manage inventory of spare parts and maintenance tools.
Ensure the availability of critical parts and materials required for maintenance work.
Order replacement parts as needed and keep track of their usage.
6. Continuous Improvement and Efficiency
Recommend improvements to systems and processes to increase operational efficiency.
Evaluate and implement new technologies and maintenance strategies.
Participate in training programs to stay updated on the latest maintenance practices and technologies.
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in maintenance engineering or a similar role.
Experience in industrial environments (e.g., manufacturing, power plants, or facilities management) is preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of machinery, electrical systems, and industrial equipment.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and maintenance management software (e.g., CMMS).
Understanding of safety standards and regulations in maintenance operations.
