Role Objective
The Manager - Systems Support at Oman Air will play an important role in driving Oman Air’s systems to ensure their optimum performance, reliability and achievement of business objectives. This role encompasses strategic planning, innovation, and efficient management of IT systems to ensure operational excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Directly oversee and manage the performance, efficiency and effectiveness of the current systems
- Take over the daily management of systems delivered by Product Development team to ensure they delivery Oman Air's business goals
- Manage and monitor the architecture of digital systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure and applications
- Ensure the continuous improvement and maintenance of Oman Air’s IT systems, including servers, networks, and related infrastructure to minimize downtime and disruptions
- Develop and implement robust disaster recovery plans and backup systems to ensure data and system availability in case of emergencies or system failures
- Directly handle and manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, service level agreements, and performance assessments
- Involve in the technical evaluation of bids relating to IT applications
- Integrate new technologies and IT solutions, such as cloud services and data analytics tools, to enhance operational efficiency and support business goals
- Collaborate with technology vendors and external partners to enhance and support digital systems, managing relationships and contracts effectively
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and leadership on the status of IT systems, infrastructure projects, and IT-related risks and opportunities
- Any other tasks assigned by management
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), or related technical discipline. Post-graduate degree in a related discipline would be an asset
8+ years of IT system experience with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a management role, ideally in the aviation industry
Ideal Experience:
In-depth understanding of airlines systems, functionality, and industry standards
Demonstrated success in executing comprehensive IT systems and infrastructure strategies that align seamlessly with Oman Air's business objectives
A track record of successfully managing and supporting systems within the aviation sector, ensuring they deliver maximum value
Expertise in establishing and maintaining robust cybersecurity protocols, coupled with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements specific to airline IT operations
Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to drive the customer-centric digital initiatives
Special Skills & Knowledge
A strong technical background and proficiency in various IT systems, hardware, and software commonly used in Oman Air’s IT environment
Exposure in requirement analysis
System design and a good knowledge of latest development frameworks
Strong communication and leadership skills and proven leadership abilities, including the capacity to lead functional teams
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment / transformational setting
Organized and efficient and a strong problem solver and decision-maker
Proficiency in English (must) and Arabic (preferred)
